Safeguarding at Wyedean
At Wyedean we have a comprehensive safeguarding curriculum which is regularly reviewed and updated to ensure that it is relevant to students. In school events such as assemblies, plays and visits from the SchoolsBeat Officer and other agencies such as STREET help students to understand how to stay safe in the real world and online. As a Trailblazers school we work closely with the Mental Health Support Team to intervene early to support young people who may be experiencing difficulties. We also have a school counsellor who is available for longer term support. Key messages on staying safe are shared via designated safeguarding display boards, screen savers, the EduKey app, and in discreet locations such as on desks in the Inclusion Hub and in student toilets.
We take advice from many external sources, most notably with Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children’s Partnership (GSCP) and also use student surveys and the School Council to try to ensure we provide the best possible support either within school or by referring to other agencies.
