Wyedean School and Sixth Form Centre

PastoraL Care - phse

Pastoral care is a key priority at Wyedean with the safety and wellbeing of all students paramount. As part of our provision we have highly trained Heads of Year and dedicated tutors to implement a pastoral programme throughout the week, both in the form of a tutorial lesson on Tuesdays and registrations on all the other days.

The key issues we cover under our programme is:

  • Safeguarding, including internet safety, cyber bullying and child exploitation. We also work to combat homophobic bullying in any shape or form and have a thriving LGBT+ group based in school.
  • SRE – Sex and Relationship Education.
  • Substance abuse
  • Careers
  • Finance education
  • Health and well-being, including awareness of mental health

As part of our programme we engage with Student Voice so there is flexibility in delivering any aspect students are concerned about with regard to their lives and wellbeing and consequently we are able to react to our ever changing world and society.

We also offer a multi-agency approach to support our students, working with the Police and Social Care. In school we have our own Counsellor who is available to support students at crucial times.  The Counsellor is also supported by the work of Student Support Services , who also works closely with our Intervention Team.
