Race for life press release
Wyedean’s school recent Race for Life activity:
In intense heat and over scorched fields, students from various year groups took part in Wyedean school’s annual Race for Life. In 2017, over £3,000 was raised to fund research into all 200+ cancers, and this run has become part of the curriculum on the last day of school before the Summer break.
Students and teaching staff alike were all in great spirits as they undertook the task and there were many different types of fancy dress!
Lynne Eagles, Senior Local Fundraising Manager for Cancer Research UK who talked to the students in their assembly prior to the Race said ‘it’s such a privilege to come and talk to students about our work – sadly many will know the devastation that cancer causes to families, and by taking part in something like Race for Life, they are not only raising funds to help beat cancer sooner, and give people more time with their loved one, but helping to stack the odds in their favour by being physically active’.
The final total for this year’s event is still unknown but confidence is high that it will yet again be a fantastic amount!
