THE WINNERS ARE Elliot Flack, Andrew and Conal-pick up your prize from Mr King boys. The answer was (b) epoxy resin. This comes under the brand name of araldite. You mix the two tubes of resin and hardener and there is a chemical reaction that makes it harden. This glue is a thermosetting plastic and useful for joining different types of material such as the wood and plastic in the question.
